Crushed coal will then be charged in the oven and subjected to carbonization for 36 hours. During the carbonization, coal mass liberates CO, which is burnt in air to maintain the temperature in the oven around 1200oC. The unburnt CO will be burnt at several points like primary and secondary ducts, waste heat tunnel etc. The coke from the oven will then be subjected to quenching. After quenching, coke will be transferred to the coke wharf. The coke mass from the wharf will be stacked at the coke yard for sizing and screening.
