Bharat Wire Ropes is planning to set up a new manufacturing unit in Chalisgaon in Maharashtra with an investment of Rs. 5000 million. The new plant will have a capacity of 24,000 tpa and will have integrated facilities for pickling, patenting galvanizing, wire drawing, stranding and closing - all under one roof. The commissioning of the plant is slated for July 2014.
Posco, the Korean steel major is investing USD 1.5 billion in a brown field expansion at Bhagad village in Palsgaon Industrial Area in Maharashtra. The new unit will process steel and will produce galvanized steel sheets for automobile, electronic goods. The project is likely to go operational by July 2012. The company is investing further USD 1.5 billion to expand the facility. Since the project is 97 kms away from Dighi port, the company has plans to use it as export base and has already set up a warehouse
Prithvi Ferro Alloys to set up a integrated steel plant in Mul village in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra with an investment of Rs. 6500 million. The project involves setting up of a DRI Kiln (2x350 tpd) and a steel melt shop with induction furnace (2x15 T and 1 x 30 T), a rolling mill of 1,98,000 tpa, a captive power plant of 60 MW (15 MW WHRB and 60 MW CFBC Boiler). Iron Ore to be sourced from Orissa. The plant will produce 252000 tpa of sponge iron, 244000 tpa of steel billets.
