SAIL to set up pelletization plant in Bhilai

SAIL’s Bhilai Steel plant is currently using iron ore fines from its captive Dalli-Rajhara iron ore mines. However, it is fastly depleting and its quality is dwindling. To set right, the company is planning to set up a pelletization plant to make use of low quality iron ore fines. Currently, the low quality iron ore fines and slurry were sent to NMDC labs for testing. Now, SAIL has received environmental clearance for its Rowghat mines which has an estimated reserves of 500 million tonnes, however development will take time and production can start only by 2012.

Arsh Iron & Steel to expand steel plant at Sarora

Arsh Iron & Steel Pvt Ltd to expand steel plant at Sarora in Tilda Tehsil in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 919.8 million. The project involves expansion of Sponge Iron Pant (29700 to 95700 MT/Annum), Installation of Induction Furnace (8 Ton X 3 (1,00,000 MTPA) and Captive Power Plant (7 MW WHRB and 8 MW CFBC). Raw materials required for the project will be coal (114840 TPA), Iron Ore Pellets (153120 TPA), Limestone/dolomite (2871 TPA), Lime (7656 TPA).

S.K. Sarawagi & Co to expand steel plant at Siltara

S.K. Sarawagi & Co to expand steel plant at Siltara in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh with an investment of Rs. 600 million. The project involves expanding capacity of sponge iron plant from 60,000 TPA to 1,10,000 TPA and installation of induction furnace (with concast). The company also plans to set up a 11 MW captive power generation unit using alternate fuels (washery rejects, wood chips, rice husk, bagasse, straw and stalks of tuar, wheat etc.)
