Nalco to set up two mega aluminium projects in Jharsuguda and Vizag

Nalco, one of the country’s leading aluminium producer is planning to invest Rs. 220,000 million to set up two mega projects. The company will set up 1.4 million tpa alumina plant at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs. 57000 million. It may be noted, the company had received mining leases in the southern state with a capacity to mine 42 lakh tonnes per annum. It will set up a 5 lakh tonne aluminium smelter in Jharsuguda in Orissa with an investment of Rs. 163450 million. The company had earmarked around Rs.20 million for pre-project activities.

New Bauxite reserves are found in Chhattisgarh

Around 300,000 tonnes of fresh bauxite reserves (which is the primary ore for aluminium ) had been found in Kudarwahi in Keshkal area of Bastar district in Chhattisgarh. The reserves spread over 20 hectares and is found to be of highest quality. It may be noted, Chhattisgarh had proven reserves at Kawardha and Surguja districts where, BALCO, a Vedanta Group company is mining to feed its Korba plant.

Vedanta group to promote industries at aluminium park at Jharsuguda

Vedanta Group is planning to set up downstream industries which will be small and medium enterprises in the upcoming aluminium park at Jharsuguda in Orissa. The aluminium park is expected to house 10-15 enterprises that will produce aluminium parts for automobiles, electronics and electrical appliances. Vedanta’s proposed aluminium smelter will provide the key inputs. The park is likely to generate employment of around 13000 -18500 people.
