Knovus Steels and Infrastructure Ltd (formerly Stemcor Steels) is to set up a iron ore beneficiation and pelletization plant in Gollapuram in Hindupur Mandal in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The project involves setting up of 4,50,000 tpa capacity iron ore pelletization plant, 2,00,000 tpa of sponge iron plant and installation of a induction furnace of capacity 1,50,000 tpa (25 TPC x 2) and rolling mill (1000 tpd x 2) of capacity 6,60,000 tpa. Raw material consumption will be iron ore (1020 tpd), Coal (840 tpd), pig iron/steel scrap(96 tpd).

M B Smelters is planning to expand its Ferro Alloy Plant at Manesamudram in Hindupur in Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The project involves increasing the capacity of 2x2 MVA Ferro-Manganese & Silico- Manganese (64,000 TPA), 1x2 MVA Low carbon Ferro Manganese (4,500 TPA), 1x9 MVA Ferro-Manganese & Silico-Manganese (25,200 TPA), 1x16.5 MVA Ferro Silicon & Silicon metal (14,200 TPA), Slag wool from waste slag 20,000 TPA. The project is estimated to cost Rs.1,200 million. As of February 2010, the project has obtained statutory clearances.

Posco, the Korean steel major is investing USD 1.5 billion in a brown field expansion at Bhagad village in Palsgaon Industrial Area in Maharashtra. The new unit will process steel and will produce galvanized steel sheets for automobile, electronic goods. The project is likely to go operational by July 2012. The company is investing further USD 1.5 billion to expand the facility. Since the project is 97 kms away from Dighi port, the company has plans to use it as export base and has already set up a warehouse
