Visa Bao Ltd plans ferro alloy plant in Kalinganagar

Visa Bao Ltd plans to set up a ferro alloy plant in Kalinganagar in Jajpur district of Orissa. The project involves setting up of ferro chrome plant (1,00,000 MTPA, 4x16.5 MVA SAF). The unit will consume Chrome ore lumps (85,000 TPA) and chrome ore fines (2,00,000 TPA), Coke (60,000 TPA), dolomite (20,000 TPA) Quartzite (5,000 TPA) as raw materials. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 2620 million.

Nixon Steel & Power plans to expand its steel plant in Sundergarh

Nixon Steel & Power Ltd is planning to invest Rs. 2352 million to expand its steel plant in Kalunga Industrial Estate in Sundergarh district of Orissa. The project involves expanding its DRI furnace, setting up of a new captive power generation unit with a capacity of 36 MW (16 MW WHRB & 20 MW FBC) and adding a steel melting shop. Raw materials likely to be used are Iron ore, washed coal for sponge iron kiln, coal for FBB,. dolomite, manganese ore, chrome ore, briquettes, quartzite, coke, electrode paste etc. Land required for the project is 80 acres.

Sree Metalliks to invest Rs.20000 million

Sree Metaliks has two integrated steel complex at Barbil and Angul in Orissa with a capacity of 0.28 mtpa which was set up at an investment of Rs.3070 million. The company is planning to invest Rs.20000 million to set up a 540 MW (2 x 270 MW) captive power unit near upcoming Dhamra Port. The project will use imported and indigenous coal which may be procured from Mozambique. Besides this, the company is also planning to set up 0.7 mtpa integrated steel plant (1.2 mtpa pelletization plant, 1mtpa beneficiation plant and a 50 MW captive power unit) at Anra in Keonjhar district in the state with an investment of Rs. 9670 million. Bhushan Steel ties with Sumitomo Corp

Bhushan Steel has signed a technical colloboration with Sumitomo Corp of Japan (world 3rd largest steel producer) to set up a 6 million tpa steel plant at Asansol in West Bengal. The company’s Orissa steel plant (1st phase) is to go on stream by Jan 2010 and the second phase by Oct 2012. Sumitomo will provide technical expertise as well as market the steel in the country under its Sumitomo brand.
