Surya Vijayanagar is planning to invest Rs. 200,000 million to set up a steel plant at Bagalkot in northern Karnataka. The project involves setting up of a 5 mtpa integrated steel plant and a 500 MW captive power plant. Karnataka Industrial Development Board(KIADB) is in the process of identifying 4000 acres of land required for the project. The company has applied for mining lease and is yet to get statutory clearances.
Surya Vijayanagar Steels & Power, a subsidiary of Surya Roshni is planning to set up an integrated steel plant in Karnataka. The project involves setting up a 5.0 million tpa steel plant and a 500 MW captive power plant in Bagalkot district in north Karnataka. The company has applied for the mining lease. The proposed steel plant is likely to get 15 million gallons of water per day from the Ghatapraba and Krishna rivers subject to the approval of the Water Resources Department. The project is estimated to cost Rs.200,000 million. As of January 2010, the company is to identify the land and then it is expected to be acquired by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board. However, the exact location for the plant is yet to be finalized
