Aditya Pigirons India to set up pig iron and steel plant at Hirekasine Kendra in Koppel in Karnataka and the 29.14 acres of land has been acquired for the project. Pig Iron is the main product; granulated slag, cast iron scrap, fines are by-products. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 500 million. Pig iron will be produced in a conventional blast furnace (BF) by reduction of Iron ore with coke.
Dhruvdesh Metasteels, a sponge iron manufacturer from Bangalore is planning to invest Rs.1200 million for a forward and backward integration programme. It plans to extract iron ore from Tumkur district and also to get into finished steel products. It is also setting up a new manufacturing unit with 40,000 tpa capacity with a rolling mills, steel melt shop and a 8 MW power plant for captive consumption. The facility spreads over 65 acres in Hirebaganal village in Koppal district. For its backward integration programme of iron ore mining, it has acquired mining license for 20 years in Chikkanayakanahalli in Tumkur district.
Tata Metaliks is planning to set up a integrated steel mill with ductile iron plant, pig iron and a billet plant. It has identified land in Bellary-Hospet belt around 300 kms north of Bangalore. The company has applied for license for mining iron ore in the region for the project.
