Knovus Steels and Infrastructure Ltd (formerly Stemcor Steels) is to set up a iron ore beneficiation and pelletization plant in Gollapuram in Hindupur Mandal in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The project involves setting up of 4,50,000 tpa capacity iron ore pelletization plant, 2,00,000 tpa of sponge iron plant and installation of a induction furnace of capacity 1,50,000 tpa (25 TPC x 2) and rolling mill (1000 tpd x 2) of capacity 6,60,000 tpa. Raw material consumption will be iron ore (1020 tpd), Coal (840 tpd), pig iron/steel scrap(96 tpd).
Yeshashvi Steels & Alloys is planning to expand its Sponge Iron Plant (50 TPD to 300 TPD) alongwith installation of Induction Furnace (10 T), Rolling Mill (30 T) and Captive Power Plant (6 MW) at Halkundi in Bellary district of Karnataka. The project involves increasing the capacity of Sponge Iron Plant 50 TPD to 300 TPD, Induction furnace 10 T, Rolling Mill 30 T and Captive power plant 6 MW. The project is estimated to cost Rs. 550 million. As of March 2010, the project has obtained statutory clearances.
Shri Raghavendra Steels & Power is planning to set up a Steel Plant at Haraginadoni in Bellary district of Karnataka. The project will have facilities like Sponge Iron 66,000 TPA, Induction Furnace/Arc Furnace (15 TPC, 1 crucible in standby) 44,550 TPA, Rolling Mill 49,500 TPA and Captive Power Plant 5 MW. The project is estimated to cost Rs.600 million.

Posco, the Korean steel major is investing USD 1.5 billion in a brown field expansion at Bhagad village in Palsgaon Industrial Area in Maharashtra. The new unit will process steel and will produce galvanized steel sheets for automobile, electronic goods. The project is likely to go operational by July 2012. The company is investing further USD 1.5 billion to expand the facility. Since the project is 97 kms away from Dighi port, the company has plans to use it as export base and has already set up a warehouse
