Chandan Steel Ltd to expand its steel unit in Umergaon Industrial Area in Valsad district of Gujarat with an investment of Rs. 120 million. The project involves setting up of an induction furnace with a capacity of 18 MT (60000 tpa) and will produce ferro alloys.
Steelcast Limited to expand its foundry unit at Ruvapari road in Bhavnagar in Gujarat with an investment of Rs. 572 million. The project involves expanding the capacity of the foundry unit from Steel and Ferrous Castings (650 MTPM to 1,250 MTPM).
The company had commissioned the project and is currently investing Rs. 450 million to increase the capacity from 1250 mtpm to 2000 mtpm and the expansion programme is likely to be completed by 2013. The company also plans to get certification from US Railways which will also boost its chances in the Delhi Mumbai Corridore rail link segment.
China Steel Corp, is planning to set up a 0.2 million tpa of electric steel plant in Dahej GIDC in Gujarat. The company had signed an MoU with the state government of Gujarat. It will invest Rs.. 10,000 million towards the first phase. The company had acquired 50 acres of land and work on the project is likely to start by June 2012 and to be completed by 2014.

TI Steels is planning to expand the Steel Plant at Gondpur Industrial Area in Phase-III in Paonta Sahib in Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh. The proposed plant will have facilities like 51,200 TPA Induction furnace 2x10 T, 46,080 TPA Electric Arc Furnace 1x 12 T, 96,000 TPA AOD Convertor 1x25 T, 92,200 TPA CCM 1x2 Strand and Wire Rod Mill 28,800 TPA. The proposed plant will manufacture Steel Ingots 39,680 TPA, Stainless Steel billets 62,200 TPA and Stainless Wire rods 28,800 TPA. Pig Iron (14,000 TPA), DRI (38,000 TPA), Scrap (71,500 TPA), Ferro Alloys (33,100 TPA), Copper (1,200 TPA), Calcined Lime (14,200 TPA), Calcined Dolo (10,000 TPA), Si-Mn (2,600 TPA), Fe-Cr (7,700 TPA), Fe-Si (4,000 TPA) and Fe-Ni (3,600 TPA) will be used as raw materials.
