Hindustan Zinc to set up 500000 tpa zinc and lead smelter at Rajasmand

Hindustan Zinc to set up 500000 tpa zinc and lead smelter at Dariba village in Relmagra Taluk in Rajasmand district of Rajasthan with an investment of Rs. 38520 million. The project involves setting up of Zinc smelter (5,00,000 TPA), Lead smelter (1,25,000 TPA), Captive Power Plant (255 MW) and expansion of Lead-Zinc Ore Rajpura Dariba Mine (6,31,000 to 9,00,000 TPA) and Beneficiation Plant (9,00,000 to 12,00,000 TPA). Proposed smelter complex will be built in 162 ha of area (including housing colony), adjacent to the HZL mining facilities in the land owned by HZL. About 106 ha of land will be acquired for railway line and railway siding. Main raw materials required are Zinc concentrate (6,48,000 TPA), Calcine (ZnO, (2,80,000 TPA), Aluminium metal (160 TPA) for Zinc smelters, Lead concentrate (2,60,000 TPA), Lead silver compound (80,000 TPA), Coal (26,000 TPA), Coke (27,000 TPA) for Lead smelters, Lead secondaries viz. used lead batteries (80,000 TPA) for Lead smelters. Coal requirement for power plant will be 11,62,000 TPA. Flocculants (133 TPA), Sodium Sulphate (19125 TPA), Lime (5,55,000 TPA), SiO2 (5200 TPA), MnO2 (375 TPA), Silico Fluoric acid (500 TPA), LSHS (4500 KLPA), Cement (13,000 TPA), Ammonium Chloride (638 TPA), Sulphuric acid (27,500 TPA) and Caustic soda solution (1500 m3) will be the other consumables required in the plant.
