Hindalco Industries to set up Integrated Aluminium Smelter Complex at Oragari village in Bargawan in Siddi district in Madhya Pradesh. The project involves setting up of green field Integrated Aluminium Smelter Complex (3.25 LTPA & Primary Aluminium) alongwith coal based Captive Power Plant (750 MW. Coal (3.5 MTPA) will be sourced from captive Mahan Coal Mines located at 25 km. Alumina (631, 450 TPA) will be sourced from captive Alumina Refinery of Orissa (located at 200 km.) and U.P. and Utkal Alumina Ltd. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 77000 million.
Vedanta Aluminium to expand its aluminium smelter at Bhurkamunda / Brundamal in Jharsuguda district of Orissa with an investment of Rs. 180,000 million. The project involves expansion of Aluminium Smelter (2.5 to 16 LTPA) and Captive Power Plant (675 MW to 1,350 MW). Alumina will be sourced from own refinery but other sources will also be explored. Center worked Pre-baked Technology (CWPB) will be used for the Aluminium Smelter Plant to reduce emissions from the pot. Production process will involve conversion of Bauxite into Alumina to Aluminium ingots, rods, billets and slabs through electro smelting process. Pulverized coal-fired boiler with close circuit cooling tower for CPP will be used.
Hindalco Industries to set up aluminium casting unit at Aurangabad with an investment of Rs. 1550 million. Aluminium pigs or ingots will be used as raw materials. Billet and rolling ingots will be manufactured to be used in the airspace air frame and forged components will be sold to vendors for Boeing, Airbus and others. The process will mainly involve melting, purification, casting and homogenization of Aluminium pigs for the production of Billets and Rolling Ingots. The project capacity is Aluminium cast rolling slabs & billets (4,600 MTP) and Aluminium (300 MT).
